During the week preceding Easter, Greentree will offer a unique worship opportunity.  A number of Greentree families will open their homes and host a celebration of a Seder dinner.

Seder is the Passover meal celebrated since the exodus of the Jews from Egypt.  It is likely that Jesus himself participated in this Passover meal every year of his earthly life, even during the last week of his life.  The Seder meal is what Christians have come to know as the Last Supper.  It was during this meal that Jesus announced the New Covenant between God and humankind.  As Christians, we traditionally celebrate a portion of the Seder during communion in the breaking of bread and drinking of wine or juice because it reminds us of Jesus' body and blood.

The full Seder meal is rich with symbolism of God's faithfulness to His people.  The Seder ceremony and celebration also reminds us of our common heritage of faith with the Hebrew people, which continues to this day through Jesus.  In this sense, Christians in 2010 can participate in an ancient ceremony that is as Christian as it is Jewish.   For additional information, visit www.christianseder.com.
