The Chase - Sermon Series for July 2009

I have the U2 song “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” playing in my head constantly as the theme of this series.  The basic idea is that every person is searching for something in life.  The truth of the matter is that whenever we find what we’ve been looking for, we realize that it’s not quite satisfying; once we have what we’ve always wanted, it’s somehow not fulfilling like we thought it would be.  That’s because it’s really just an echo of what we are truly made to look for.  In the end, G.K. Chesterton is right, “Every man who knocks on the door of a brothel is looking for God.”  But the real ending is that it’s not only we who are searching—rather, we belong to a God who searches for and finds us!
