Requirements & Expectations for C-Group Leaders
The C-Group leader is the most integral person in this ministry. Without him or her, there is no ministry and without the development of new leaders, there is no growth.
Requirements for Leaders
- Must be members or working toward membership
- Must embrace overall vision and strategies employed by GTCC
- Must have previously participated in a small group or turbo group
- Must have interviewed with me or member of leadership team
- Must embrace doctrinal orthodoxy as espoused in the EPC's Essentials of the Faith
Qualifications for Leaders
- Character-must be a person of integrity and committed to walking and growing with Christ
- Commitment-must be committed to training events and developing as a leader through group or one-on-one coaching
- Brokenness/humility-must display humility in calling, interaction, and disagreement. He or she must lead their group in brokenness, making it a safe place for struggle with sin and/or questions. In addition, they must have a teachable spirit so that all of us can partner together for the building of the Kingdom.
- Calling-must have a sense of calling to lead/teach/facilitate. The small group leader must have the proper passion, style, and gift mix to lead.
Expectations for Leaders
-
Expected to attend spring and fall training as well as participate in regular coaching
- Expected to choose or facilitate the choosing of appropriate study material
- Expected to monitor health of group and report accordingly and to discuss problem situations or unresolved conflict within the "leadership community," with a coach, or with the pastor of spiritual formation (without breaking any confidences and without gossiping)
- Expected to be a shepherd to group members
- Expected to identify and approach possible apprentice leaders. For training, the small group leader can train them or they can join a turbo group, according to the comfort level of the leader. However, the leader is expected to develop in this area as well. Also expected to help other group members develop their particular passions and gifts for ministry
